You should probably know when you start command prompt in Windows XP in full screen mode. The screen font appears in smaller size. If you were using Windows 98 command prompt, you will notice the difference. So do you want your fonts to look as in Windows 98 ie. in regular size? Then perform this trick. I bet you don’t know this trick
Go to start, then click run, and type cmd, you will get command prompt in window mode. Then click on the icon in the title bar or right click the title bar to get properties. On the properties window you will see ‘Layout’ tab, click on it. There you will get ‘Screen Buffer Size’ having Width and Height properties. The default height is set to 300, change it to 25 or 24. don’t change anything in Window Size. Then click OK, you will get a window, select ‘Save properties for future windows with same title’ an click OK.
The press alt+enter to get into Full screen mode , you will see the difference.
I installed PCQLinux2005, today and found it is better than Fedora core 3. PCQLinux is the modified version of Fedora core 3. It is exclusively created for India by PCQuest magazine. Before this, I had Fedora core 3 linux in my system. Fedora was quite good than its previous versions. PCQ is customized for Indian users with many India languages except Marathi, Fedora 3 have Marathi in it. Why PCQ dropped Marathi is the question. This year’s issue they have modified Fedora Core 3 in such a way that there are 12 installation options as well as supercomputing and linux clusters support. PCQ have added many extra softwares such as MediaWiki, Drupal, phpBB etc. for enterprise. J2SE, J2ME, JRE, Eclipse, Tomcat, GTK#, Mono, Gambus etc. for developers. Security tools such as Firewall builder, Ettercap, SELinux etc. The threats and problems in Fedora are reduced in PCQLinux2005. I think this is the best distro for linux. Once u install it , I bet u will forget givin “rpm-ivh anyprogram.rpm” after installing it. We need not have to install the extra softwares because most of the softwares are included it. Today India defeated Pakistan in test match at Kolkata. What I liked is the nice bowling by Anil Kumble. He took 7 wickets. This match was important for Saurav Ganguly. It was his homeground. At the Eden Gardens, India hadn’t seen the win against Pak. But today India made it. The match was in the interesting stage both teams had good chance of winning. The Kumble destroyed the plans of Pak team. Now India is ahead with 1-0 in the series.
Firefox is awesome! It has reached more than 25 million downloads. I am in love with firefox. Though I was using internet explorer from last five years, the firefox has taken its place. Firefox is a free software from Mozilla Foundation. It is a open source software. Within a month of its launch in December, It reached to 10 million downloads and today more than 25 million downloads. I got the software from a magazine cd(digit) in January. I quickly installed it on my machine. I was surprised to see this good piece of software. I liked its intuitive interface, tabbed browsing, no popups, nice download manger, extensions, themes. It changed the way I use the internet. It is far good from internet explorer. The popups is the main problem in internet explorer. Firefox has inbuilt popup manager. Until now not a single popup I have seen in firefox. I am using various extensions which are extremely useful such as slogger, flashgot, forecastfox, bandwidth tester to name a few. It has inbuilt google searchbar, live bookmarks. When a page is saved in firefox, the links in the page are converted to the local links. This is the benefit of firefox. Before the firefox approx 90% pc users were using internet explorer. But firefox decreased it to approx 80%. This is a shock to Microsoft. This has again yielded a browser-war in 90s. The firefox made Microsoft to think again to its internet explorer and other softwares.
The latest happenings in the technology is changing the lives of human beings so rapidly that no one thinks over it deeply. Every day there is one new gadget coming in the market. But BSNL( A Govt. of India telecom company) launched its broadband named Dataone in January which is considerably cheap. This Dataone will bring a Change in the lives of many Indians. The internet ‘the God of data’ is coming to homes. Everyone can touch the technology. This e-revolution will be the remarkable revolution in the history. Internet is related mainly to information. You cant judge the speed of information that Internet provides. For getting knowledge, we had to consider the books, newspapers, TVs. We had choice of getting knowledge but we don’t had the choice of getting good knowledge which is coming from good brains. The medium which is blog is doing this. Blog provides best knowledge from good brains. This was the difference which will be covered from the ‘Internet’. Internet will be the new social structure.
